- Overtime-heavy years: refinery, petrochemical and LNG work often means overtime and several employers. The new overtime deduction (up to $12,500, or $25,000 joint) can make a real difference.
- Property and business equipment: homes and business property in Beaumont and Port Arthur are appraised by the Jefferson County Appraisal District. Starting in 2026, the first $125,000 of business personal property is exempt.
- Storm recovery: if a federally declared disaster damaged your home or car, uninsured losses may be deductible, and the IRS often extends deadlines for the affected counties.
- No Texas income tax: your return is federal only, unless you worked in another state such as Louisiana.
Common questions
Do you have an office in Beaumont or Port Arthur?
No. I'm based in Houston and work with Golden Triangle clients by video call and secure upload. It's the same service and the same flat fee.
I worked a turnaround in Louisiana. Can you handle that?
Yes. I prepare your federal return and the Louisiana nonresident return, so you only pay Louisiana tax on what you earned there.
